Kapture · Proof of Yes · Chargebacks
Lost a dispute over terms your buyer agreed to?
Many chargebacks come from real buyers who later say they cancelled, never agreed to the refund policy, or got something different. Banks side with them unless you can show what they agreed to. Kapture keeps that proof for every buyer at $0.001.
2,000 free tokens for new accounts. No credit card needed.
Which disputes a record helps
| The buyer says | Card rule | What the record shows | Helps? |
|---|---|---|---|
| “I cancelled, and the policy wasn't clear” | Visa 13.7, Amex C05 | The cancel or refund policy on their screen and their click to accept. Visa lists proof the policy was disclosed as the answer | Yes, strongly |
| “I cancelled my subscription” | Mastercard 4853, Amex C28, Visa 13.2 | The auto-renew terms they accepted at sign-up. Mastercard and Amex weigh this. Visa mostly asks whether they used the service after cancelling | Yes at Mastercard and Amex; less at Visa |
| “Not as described” | Visa 13.3, Mastercard 4853 | The exact description and price they saw when they bought | Yes |
| “I never got the service” | Visa 13.1 | Checkout happens before delivery, so the record can't show delivery | No |
| “I didn't make this purchase” | Visa 10.4, Mastercard 4837 | Some IP and device detail, but 3-D Secure and wallets like Apple Pay are the real fix | No |
Visa's rules ask online merchants to show their refund and cancel policy “during the sequence of pages before final checkout” with a “click to accept” button or checkbox (Visa Core Rules, section 5.4.2.5). A summary, not legal advice.
Why a screenshot of your checkout isn't enough
When a dispute lands, most merchants send a picture of their checkout page as it looks today. It isn't this buyer's page, and it may not even be the same version. A Kapture record is this buyer's own checkout: their session, their time, the terms they saw.
How to send it
Banks read documents, not recordings. Stripe says banks “won't review any external content,” including video files and links (Stripe), and processors take PDF and image files of a few megabytes. So take stills from the record: the price, the terms, the ticked box and the Buy click, each with its time, plus the IP and device details. Put them in your dispute response, or hand them to your dispute tool.
Questions
- Can a recording of the checkout win a chargeback?
- It can be strong evidence in disputes decided on terms: cancelled orders, refund-policy and "not as described" disputes. No tool guarantees a win; the card issuer decides. It does not help with fraud disputes, where 3-D Secure and wallets do the work.
- Can I send the bank a video?
- No. Processors take documents and images, and Stripe says banks won't review video files or links. Send stills from the record, each with its time, plus the IP and device details.
- What does Visa ask for in a cancel-policy dispute?
- Proof the merchant properly disclosed the cancel or refund policy at the time of the purchase. For online sales, Visa's rules ask for the policy before final checkout with a click to accept.
- What does it cost?
- $0.001 per buyer record. New accounts get 2,000 free tokens with no card, then a $20 minimum purchase.
