A SIP trunk is priced in three parts: the minutes you use, the phone numbers you rent, and sometimes a monthly fee for each call you can hold at once.

The three charges

Minutes. A price for each minute of each call. Calls coming in and calls going out have different prices, and toll-free costs more than local.
Phone numbers. A small monthly fee for each number.
Channels. Some plans charge a flat monthly fee for each call you can hold at the same time, in place of a price per minute.
