What is BYOC?
BYOC means bring your own carrier. You keep your own account with a phone company and plug it into your call software. That way, you do not buy phone minutes from the software company.
The usual way
Most call software sells you the software and the phone minutes together, as one price per minute. The software company buys the minutes from a phone company and adds its markup.
The BYOC way
- You hold the phone company account. The bill for minutes and numbers comes to you, at the phone company’s price.
- You own your numbers. If you change software, the numbers stay with you.
- The software is a separate, flat fee. It does not grow with every minute you use.
BYOC in Kurrent
Kurrent is built this way. It runs on your own Telnyx account, or on the phone company you already use. The phone company bills you directly for minutes and numbers, and we take nothing on them.
