What is an IVR?
An IVR is the phone menu that answers when you call a business: “Press 1 for sales, press 2 for support.” IVR stands for interactive voice response.
What an IVR does
- Answers every call. Day or night, with no person needed.
- Sorts callers. The caller presses a key or says a word, and the call goes to the right team.
- Handles simple jobs. Opening hours, an account balance, or taking a payment.
Where an IVR goes wrong
Long menus make people hang up. Callers who cannot find the right option press 0 over and over, or give up.
An IVR can only do what its menu allows. It cannot answer a question nobody planned for.
An AI agent, not a menu
Komms answers the phone with an AI agent that talks with the caller. The caller says what they need in their own words. There are no keys to press.
The agent can answer questions from your documents, book an appointment, or transfer the call to a person.
Komms is $0.08 a minute, billed in 6-second steps. That covers the phone call, the AI and a standard voice. The only other charge is $15 a month per phone number. You can try it free.
